Serendipity Body Products was established in Edmonton in 2014 and specializes in handcrafting spa-quality, healthy skin care products and as of 2020, aromatherapy consultations. It is owned and operated by Deena Peters, BSc., who has several years of quality management experience, hundreds of hours of ingredient research and certificates in Skin & Body Care, Nutritional Therapy and Advanced Aromatherapy.
It started off with selling a couple of products (in way too many scents!) at craft and farmers' markets. Soon I was a guest on the Hey Ladies! Theatre, attending bigger craft shows, the Make It Show and the Alberta Gift Fair and had some products included in a YEG Box. My product line has grown substantially and the products have evolved with purpose and are made with a high level of care and attention.
My goal is to have a healthy, successful company that is a leader in helping health conscious customers with their concerns and symptoms. Honesty, health & wellness and customer satisfaction are of the utmost importance to me.
We are primarily an online store but you are welcome to make an aromatherapy or shopping appointment. We are located at 7507 111 Avenue NW in Edmonton. Our phone number and email is not displayed on the website because of an increase in spam. Please use the contact form and we'll provide you with our contact information.
I was born and raised in Winnipeg and early on discovered a passion for cooking and the outdoors. My love for animals got me started on a Bachelor of Science degree in zoology. I soon discovered that plants were equally fascinating and finished my degree with a major in Ecology. I took up running and completed a half marathon. A job led to a promotion and transfer to Calgary in 1999 where I lived for three years before meeting the love of my life and moving to Edmonton. A friend introduced me to trail running and I was immediately hooked, running legs of the Death Race and Sinister Seven and running the Skyline Trail, the Blackfoot Ultra and the Grizzly Ultra. I happened to take a "Diva for a Day" body products class and found it was a calorie-free outlet for my cooking. After quitting my office job in quality management, I decided to turn my hobby into a business. I love researching, experimenting, making improvements and helping people. Over the years I've learned about healthy ingredients for my skin and for my cooking and continue to pursue a healthy lifestyle.
My passion for helping people and using natural ingredients led me to complete my training to become a Certified Aromatherapist.
My mission is to delight my customers by creating effective and healthy skin care products that are:
- Natural and safe, for even the most sensitive skin
- Dairy, gluten and cruelty free
- Free of parabens, SLS, petroleum, toxins and artificial colours
- Made of organic and local ingredients where possible (we use ELK Honey beeswax from Alberta)
- Considerate of the environment with recyclable containers and minimum packaging
'Natural' is not a regulated word in Canada. At Serendipity Body Products we consider anything that exists in nature to be natural, even if its produced synthetically due to cost or difficulty in obtaining it, as long as it is minimally processed. Not all natural ingredients are good for you either, lead or mercury for example, so we ensure that our ingredients are also safe to use. All of my products are 98-100% natural and 100% safe. I use some synthetic phthalate free fragrance oils to add to my lineup of intoxicating scents.
